Caliente Southwest Grill

Introduction

Caliente Southwest Grille, a local Costa Mesa / Newport favorite restaurant for 11 years, uses sustainable and health-conscious ingredients to bring a fresh take on the exciting flavors of the American Southwest.

The restaurant recently underwent a change of management and rebranding, from a long-established local favorite known for its heavy food to a contemporary Mexican food spot. It was critical that all visual assets reflected the new brand direction and highlighted the freshness of the cuisine.

Problem

Caliente Southwest Grille needed a digital marketing solution to advertise their weekly specials; they were manually propping up large poster boards daily to showcase specials. Their recently-acquired main menu takes up the majority of the point of purchase space, and left only the back counter for the large poster board to rest on.

Solution

We created a 48″ ceiling-mounted digital marketing board featuring Caliente’s weekly specials from Monday to Friday and their catering capabilities. Using an accordion animated layout, we showcased each daily special while still simultaneously showing the specials of the other days of the week.

We were careful to extend Caliente’s refreshed brand by using their beautiful food photography and Día de los Muertos themed graphic assets, but with an animated flair. We rigged dancing skeletons and wiggling peppers to match the brand’s playful personality, which resonates strongly throughout their active social media presence.

Result

Our digital marketing solution for Caliente proved a big hit for both the business and the customers; orders of the daily specials that are advertised have increased, especially for the “Kids Eat Free On Weekends” deal – reaching and maximizing the family demographic. Catering awareness has increased and orders have grown steadily.
